About Ronald McDonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. RMHC strives to be part of the solution to issues challenging families today. We use our resources and partnerships in the community to help families gain access to healthcare services and keep families close during critical points in their children's lives.

RMHC serves children and families through three core programs, and also through specialized local programs. Our core programs include:

  • The Ronald McDonald House, which provides a home away from home for families while their child is accessing care at a nearby hospital.
  • Ronald McDonald Family Room programs, which are in-hospital programs that allow parents to recharge, grab a meal or get some sleep down the hall from their child’s treatment.
  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs, which are mobile programs that bring medical care, dental care, and health education into communities where access to care may be limited.

Position Purpose

The RMHC Global Communications and Global Engagement team is responsible for fostering alignment, engagement, and pride among key internal audiences, and building connection and understanding to mobilize support of the RMHC mission. These “key audiences” include: the RMHC Global Board of Trustees, the RMHC Global team, and local RMHC Chapter staff in more than 60 countries and regions around the world.

The RMHC Communications and Global Engagement Supervisor (Board of Trustees and Impact Strategy) is responsible for managing Board engagements with a focus on process improvement and alignment. This individual will lead activities designed to ensure seamless operations across the RMHC Global Board of Trustees through meeting administration, communications, process documentation and support of governance processes.

This individual will also be responsible for project management work to support the RMHC Global Impact Strategy.

Principle Accountabilities

Meeting planning

  • Manages all Board meeting logistics from planning through execution (3 meetings per year)
  • Creates detailed Board agendas in partnership with the RMHC Global Senior Leadership Team and Communications and Global Engagement Team
  • Arranges meeting rooms, food, travel and other logistics for Board meetings
  • Supports interim committee meetings
  • Board meeting scheduling and coordination to ensure alignment with McDonald’s

Communications

  • Send all Board communications (to/ from)
  • Update and lead Board self-assessment survey
  • Partners with Director of Communications on annual Calendar of Matters
  • Ensure Board records, lists, bios, contact lists, website, etc. are maintained
  • Review all Board documents for continuous improvement

Support governance processes

  • Partner with McDonald’s legal on execution of Board motions throughout the year or for Board meetings
  • Develop and lead process for Board member onboarding

Project Management

  • Provide project management support for RMHC Global Impact Strategy

Qualifications


  • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
  • A minimum of two years of related work experience supporting senior executives in a communications, administrative, governance or other capacity
  • Excellent speaking, writing and editing/proofreading skills; demonstrated versatility as a communicator in adapting style to suit varied audiences
  • Meticulous: detail-oriented with the ability to plan, schedule and prioritize; manages time effectively with competing and concurrent priorities while adhering to standards and timelines
  • Anticipate and respond to changes in strategic direction and operating practices and embrace continuous improvement
  • Take personal responsibility for meeting commitments and ensuring that results are achieved in a timely manner
  • Work cooperatively with others in ways that align with the RMHC core values and supports the success of the overall team
