ABOUT THE JOB

The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Associate , Donor and Brand Activation, in the Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.

Reporting to the Deputy Director , the Associate is an integral member of the Donor and Brand Activation unit, which develops donor communications, publications, and events to advance the ACLU’s fundraising strategies. The Associate is responsible for coordinating and implementing the day-to-day efforts of the Donor and Brand Activation unit, ensuring that the team’s creative projects and business operations run smoothly. The position requires excellent project coordination, tactical thinking, communication skills, and attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the successful implementation of large- and small-scale virtual and in-person donor events via project coordination, RSVP tracking, logistical and day-of event support, and follow up reporting
  • Be involved in the creative development and execution of donor events and communications by pitching ideas, managing discrete deliverables, sourcing stories and subjects, and liaising with external vendors and ACLU colleagues nationwide
  • Produce and distribute donor communications, including, but not limited to regular cultivation emails to the ACLU's major donors nationwide using Sailthru and other bulk email services
  • Assist with the production and distribution of major publications like ACLU Magazine, from start to finish, by liaising with cross-departmental ACLU colleagues and external vendors on production meetings and milestones, data pulls and mail plans, quality control, and performance reports
  • Serve as the unit’s representative on cross-departmental and nationwide internal working groups and special projects, sharing information and opportunities for donor stewardship and engagement
  • Serve as the administrative manager for the unit by creating and maintaining efficient processes and reporting to track invoices, budget expenditures, subject permissions, creative assets, and donor engagement activities

  • Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Center principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development, policy application, and organizational practices and processes
  • Be committed to the mission of the ACLU

  • Work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent project coordination, verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Self-starter adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, and follow-through, including adherence to deadlines and ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Ability to work proactively in an ever-changing, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with staff at all levels within the organization, including senior staff
  • Ability to represent the organization and communicate professionally, maintaining tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years in a project coordination or event planning (live and virtual) role
  • Experience with office software and fundraising databases like Salesforce
  • Familiarity with email service providers like Sailthru
  • Experience working at complex national nonprofits

COMPENSATION

The annual salary for this position is $76,469 (Level J). This salary is reflective of a position based in New York, NY. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
