Ancestry is looking for an exceptional, passionate, and highly motivated Software Engineer, Intern to join our Thundercats team this summer. Ancestry is transforming its user experience from one of individual research to a social and collaborative effort with friends and family. The Thundercats team builds and maintains social front-end UI features such as the customer messaging platform, as well as our social invite and sharing platforms. As a Software Engineer, Intern on the Thundercats team, you will help develop and maintain front-end social features, write unit and integration tests, deploy code to production, and participate in standard agile ceremonies alongside a team of professional software engineers.

What you will do:

    • Write clean, quality code according to user stories
    • Collaborate with team members, product and front-end teams
    • Review pull requests, provide and review feedback
    • Write unit tests
    • Fix defects

Who you are:

    • Great communicator
    • Proactive in seeking the next item to work on or person to get info from
    • Excited to learn and grow in your craft
    • Proficient in Javascript, CSS, HTML, GitHub or similar versioning system
    • Some front-end framework (ie: ReactJS, Angular, etc.) and cloud experience is a plus

Internship Program Details:

    • Students must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational institution with a graduation date after August 2023.
    • Summer 2023 program dates are May 15 – September 8 (Please note that we will have three intern onboarding dates to choose from: May 15th, June 5th and June 20th. Students may offboard every Friday, beginning August 11th. All internships must be wrapped up by September 8th.)
    • FULLY PAID temporary housing and travel to and from internship
    • All summer internships will be in Lehi, Utah. You will work a combined hybrid and office-based schedule that allows you to choose which days you come into the office and which days you work from temporary housing/home (Utah students).
    • Interns have the opportunity to network and partner with other interns and industry-leading professionals.
    • You will participate in engaging events including executive speaker sessions, professional development, and our annual Intern Days to showcase your project and work.
    • Full-time schedule (40 hours/week) required; Monday-Friday.
    • Company-issued laptop and equipment provided for the duration of the internship program.
