About the role

The Senior Operations Manager, Insurance Controls position will manage regulatory compliance within our operational control framework which includes Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Model Audit Rule (MAR) and Service Organization Controls Report (SOC1) requirements to ensure Oscar manage insurance controls across business segments and improve operational processes across the full scope of Insurance Operations.

You will report to the SVP, Operations. This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual walkthrough process with controls owners and external auditors to ensure documentation reflects current business processes.
  • Communicate testing results to management and agree to corrective actions.
  • Manage development of clear, scalable and dynamic operational processes which support regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Monitor processes to ensure compliance with control frameworks and adherence to regulatory requirements across Insurance Operations
  • Create project schedules and framework for controls; coordinate documentation requests from external auditors for timely upload to relevant platforms
  • Assist control and process owners with updates to narratives, flowcharts and control descriptions and update risk and control matrices, test plans and test results
  • Work with process owners to implement corrective action plans identified in internal control breakdowns within a timely manner.
  • Use internal tools and technical processes to accomplish database queries
  • Manage relationships with relevant partners as a representative of Insurance Operations
  • Provide direction, while coaching, providing feedback, and mentoring the team members, including detailed review of work papers and reports

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional experience in audit, strategy, operations, or health insurance or consulting
  • Experience supporting process improvement, assessing and enhancing internal controls, documenting procedures, workflow building projects with short deadlines
  • Prior experience with SOX, MAR and SOC1 assessments and control frameworks
  • Advanced Excel skills (can write advanced macros)
  • Experience leading a team
  • Participated in a complex SOX, MAR, or large internal control implementation project.

Bonus Points

  • Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of database languages (SQL)
