Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a key priority for Fannie Mae’s Board of Directors and senior leadership and will continue to grow in importance as Fannie Mae looks to exit conservatorship, and build confidence with new investors and deliver on its mission to support affordable and sustainable housing in the US.

As a Manager of ESG Reporting you will join the Environmental, Social, and Governance team, which supports the enterprise’s strategic goal of becoming a globally recognized ESG company. Meeting this goal requires a strong reporting function and cross-enterprise data sourcing and management. This role will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual activities including reporting (to ESG reporting standards, rating agencies and/or self-reporting publications), partnering with business architecture and technology teams to develop data sourcing processes and controls, and overseeing ESG reporting system management. S/he will work with directors and officers to coordinate ESG activities, and directly manage the ESG Reporting Senior Associate.

The Manager, ESG Reporting role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the team responsible for monitoring and reporting timelines and requirements.
  • Oversee gathering of ESG data and information for reports to be presented to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage report production process including data sourcing, validation, and final disclosure.
  • Manage and coordinate interactions with key stakeholders to ensure that reports meet the business, regulatory, and stakeholder needs.
  • Review reports for accuracy and timeliness, provide insightful analysis, and explain reporting results.
  • Identify and collaborate on process improvement initiatives to ensure streamlined, efficient and accurate reporting processes.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree of Economics, Sustainability or Management
  • ISSP or CSDP Certifications (optional)

Ideal Experience

  • Subject matter expert on ESG reporting and disclosures with strong understanding of the role of ESG data in global capital markets.
  • Broad business and technological acumen to integrate metrics on ESG performance into systems and data architecture.
  • Highly organized and results-oriented with demonstrated experience managing cross-enterprise reporting processes.
  • Understanding of Fannie Mae's role in the mortgage finance system, Fannie Mae's business activities, Fannie Mae’s financials, and how they fit together corporately and strategically.
  • Stays up to date with global standards related to socially responsible/ESG investing and reporting including but not limited to ICMA Green and Social Bond Principles, UN Sustainable Development Goals, UN Principles for Responsible Investing, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, UNEP Finance Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, Global Reporting Initiative, and Energy Efficient Mortgages Action Plan.
  • Expertise in building relationships across business units and corporate functions to influence process or policy changes. Understands business drivers and operational processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills suitable to an environment working with Senior Executives and External Stakeholders.
